Nearly 150 thousand people to find job in the short term

KABUL (SW): Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has signed 74 development project worth afn 229 million with Community Development Councils (CDCs).

The projects will pave the way for some 149779 people to find direct jobs and 80000 others will benefit from these projects indirectly.

Out of these projects, 67 projects will be funded by the Asian Development Bank and 7 other projects will be funded (10 percent) by the Afghan government.

The projects will be implemented in Balkh, Samangan, Panjshir, Ghor, Bamiyan, Laghman, Takhar, Logar, Paktia, Jawzjan, Kunar, Nooristan, Wardak, Daikundi and Sar-e-Pul provinces in the country.

 

Nasir Ahmad Durani, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said in a press conference on Saturday that the MoRRD has started working for peace by constructing roads in the rural areas and building dams and canals in 39 districts in the country.

“To swiftly implement these projects, we have engaged 430 newly university graduates who went to the provinces last Thursday.”

He added that out of $ 389 million development budget, the MoRRD has spent $ 274 million which is 70 percent.

He further added that once the first phase of the projects get completed in 12 provinces, it would create 5 million and 25 thousand routine job and 210 thousand people would find job in the short term.

According to some reports, the ministry has so far signed almost 5192 development projects in 23 provinces in the country, which are worth $ 136 million.
