KABUL ( SW) – NATO has condemned the Taliban's deadly assault on the Afghan forces in Zabul province on Friday killing at least 24 of them.
In a statement, Nicholas Kay, NATO senior civilian representative to Afghanistan, dubbed the attack as "shameful".
"I condemn the savage Taliban attack on the Afghan security forces in Zabul. What kind of people can order and do this to fellow Afghans on the day of Nowruz, in the midst of a global pandemic & after professing commitment to peace? Shameful", he said.
According to Atta Jan Haq, provincial council chairman, a number of Taliban infiltrators helped the militants attack and kill 10 soldiers and 14 policemen in this attack.
President Mohammed Ashraf Ghani has described the attack as a sign of the Taliban's reluctance to accept peace. The presidency has vehemently condemned the attack.
