Nationwide campaign to plant 22 million trees

KABUL (SW) – A nationwide campaign to plant 22 million trees across the country was launched at Badam Bagh here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rafi Qazizada, director at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, said this campaign under the banner of ‘greenery and peace’ is aimed at promoting forestation in the country. He said the MoAIL has prepared some two million new plants while some 20 million more plants have been prepared by other partner organization for plantation.

Naseer Ahmad Durrani, minister at the MoAIL, said on his term this mammoth drive would also help combat pollution in the country. He noted work is underway on the ten-year Green Belt program spread on some 10,000 hectors of land. He said some half a million trees have already been planted in different parts of the capital Kabul.

CEO Abdullah Abdullah told the moot the National Unity Government has been candid in its support for the agriculture sector.
