KABUL (SW) – Afghanistan’s national under 16 football team has reached Tashkent, Uzbekistan to feature in the Central Asian football championship.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation, the boys have trained extensively for six days in Oman before landing in Uzbekistan. The tournament would commence in Tashkent on July 05.
Afghanistan would play its maiden match against the host Uzbekistan on Thursday, 06, July. Later, it would also take on the national under 16 teams of Iran, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Afghanistan lost both of its friendly preparation games against Oman.
In a bid to train hard and prepare for bigger games, Afghanistan joined the Central Asian zone in 2015 quitting the relatively easier South Asian zone.
Currently, Iran is the champion of the Central Asian zone while Afghanistan is on the 29th slot.
