KABUL (SW) – Nai – Supporting Open Media organization has flayed the government’s move to stop foreign ministry officials from sharing views on social media platforms.
In a statement, Nai said this move by the government denies citizens their right to freedom of speech and is in clear contrast with the Constitution. It said any public or private institution has the right to chalk-out tailored policies as long as the terms do not contradict the Constitutional rights of the citizens.
The government’s latest move has also been criticized in the social media spheres.
However, Gran Hewad, interim head of the media relations department at the foreign ministry, has clarified that this policy was drafted four months ago in line with the regulations and the Constitution.
The latest regulations have been announced at a time when the presidency issued a statement of the deputy foreign ministers holding a meeting with the President for reforms.
