KABUL (SW): A number of former key government officials joined hands on Sunday to form new political party pushing the National Unity Government (NUG) to comply with the Constitution and bring reforms.
Warning the NUG against interfering in electoral affairs, the new party led by Rehmatullah Nabil, former chief of the National Directorate for Security (NDS), stressed the elections must be held in time. Addressing a gathering in this regard, Nabil noted that the manifesto of the new party consists of ensuring the country’s territorial integrity, supremacy of the Constitution, social justice, peace, security, freedom of speech, human and women’s rights, and fair elections. Nabil said he does not seek a share in the government, but would stand firm against injustice.
Former National Security Adviser Rangin Dadfar Spanta severely criticized the foreign policy of the NUG. He charged that the government has stayed mum over Pakistan’s desire to undermine the Durand Line. Spanta also held the NUG responsible for surge in terrorists’ clout in the eastern parts of the country.
Azaraksh Hafizi, leading businessman, lamented the government’s alleged failed policies for the growth of industry and attracting foreign investment.
