Nabi and Shahzad to feature in PSL 2017

KABUL (SW): Leading Afghan cricketers Mohammad Nabi and Shahzad Mohammadi are set to feature in the forthcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 starting on Thursday.

Farid Hotak, spokesman for the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed that the two players have been allowed to take part in the PSL. All-rounder Nabi would play once again for the Quetta Gladiators while flamboyant Shahzad would feature in the Peshawar Zalmay squad.

Defending champion Islamabad United would take on the Peshawar Zalmay in the opening match of the tournament. Misbah-ul-Haq will lead the defending champions Islamabad United yet again while Shahid Afridi handed over the captaincy of Peshawar Zalmi to Darren Sammy. Sarfaraz Ahmed will look to guide the Quetta Gladiators, while Sangakkara leads the Karachi Kings. Lahore Qalandars will be captained by Brendon McCullum.

The games would be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 09 February till 05 March 2017. 

With the Afghan national team touring Zimbabwe later this month, Nabi can only feature in two matches for the Quetta Gladiators. His side would face Lahore Qalandars on 10 February and then Karachi Kings on 11 February. Nabi has promised to join the national team against Zimbabwe for the first ODI on 16 February.
