Muslimyaar asks Russia to provide fighter aircrafts against Daesh

MOSCOW (SW): Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, Speaker of the Masharano Jirga (upper house) asked the Russia on Wednesday to support the Afghan Air Force (AAF) by providing fighter aircrafts in the wake of surging Daesh.

He said this while addressing the Federation Council (upper house). He told the house that Afghanistan needed fighter aircrafts in fight against the Daesh. He added that as a sovereign state, Afghanistan does not want individual but the state to be supported. 

Addressing the house, Muslimyar said Afghanistan needed at least ten fighter aircrafts at the moment. “If you are not willing to grant these aircrafts, provide them to our armed forces on long-term easy installments”, he suggested. The MJ speaker added that Daesh can be handled at ease with these ten aircrafts.

He also urged upon the Russian businessmen to take advantage of investor-friendly environment and invest in Afghanistan. Muslimyar also urged the Russian government to resume its stalled projects in Afghanistan.

Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council endorsed the comments made by Muslimyaar.

While commenting on Muslimyar’s trip to Russia, Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense welcomed the move. He told Salam Watandar that such efforts by senior representatives of the state help the government on various fronts. Muslimyar was accompanied by a number of senators.

Earlier this month, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the National Security Advisor went to India to hold talks with his Indian counterpart over providing at least four combat helicopters to the AAF.
