PUL-E-ALAM(SW): Security officials in Logar accused Akbar Stanekzai, a member of parliament of usurping hundreds hectares of government land.
Daud Ahmadi, Logar Police Chief, said that Stanekzai has built residential buildings on these lands.
Ahmadi who was speaking at a press conference on Tuesday said that the MP was also involved in smuggling drugs and chromite.
He point out to the report released by the Land Authority Office in Logar, which indicated the names of 1046 people who were mentioned as those who have usurped more than 30,000 hectares of government lands.
SalamWatandar tried to contact Akbar Stanekzai but to no avail as he was abroad. Stanekzai’s immediate circles however, told Salam Watandar that the allegations were not true.
Hassibullah Stanekzai, Head of Logar Provincial Council, also denied the charges.
A number of residents in Pul-e-Alam protested against the demolition of the houses, which were built on government lands. The demonstrators shut down the door of Logar Provincial Council for hours.
They complained that the security forces have been destroying their houses. Salim Saleh, Spokesman for the governor in Logar, told Salam Watandar that according to the Article 45 of the decree issued by the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the houses built on government lands should be demolished.
He said that the demonstrators do not have a document to prove these lands are legal to build houses on. He further said that a number of parliamentarians, former commanders in Logar and influential men have been involved in usurping these lands.
