KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MoUDH) on Tuesday inked deals with two private firms for water supply projects in four provinces.
Hameedullah Yalani, director canalization and water supply at the MoUDH, said on the occasion funds for all four projects have been provided by the government. He noted the water supply project in Faryab’s provincial capital, Maimana, would cost AFN 249 million, and would take 18 months to complete. This 89 kilometer long line would help supply water to 7800 families in the city.
Second project would be executed in Gardez, provincial capital of Paktia province where 4500 families are likely to benefit from the 68 kilometer long water supply line. This project costing AFN 206 million would be completed in 20 months.
Third project would be implemented in Pul-i-Alam, capital of Logar province where 3000 families are likely to benefit from the 31 kilometer long water supply line. This project costing AFN 82 million would be completed in 18 months.
The fourth project would be executed in the capital Kabul’s Shah Shaheed neighborhood where 28 kilometer long water supply line would be laid costing AFN 84 million.
Officials said on the occasion, bids for survey and study for the Shahtot Dam are announced to overcome the water supply issues in the city. It was noted the World Bank has pledged to fund the Shahtot Dam that would cost $ 150 million.
