KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) has inked 12 contracts worth 650 million with several private companies on Sunday here.
Out of these contracts, 11 are related to construction of roads and bridges while one project aims at building a new building for school. Officials have said based on these contracts 32.5 kilometer of roads will be reconstructed while 5.8 kilometer of road will be paved with asphalt, and 226 meter of bridges will be built in Baghlan, Logar, Parwan, Sar-i-Pul, Uruzgan, Khost, Samangan, Ghor, and Noristan provinces.
Nasir Ahmad Durrani, Minister at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, urged the contracted companies to execute the projects with high standards and on time. “The funds for these projects are paid from the developmental budget of the Ministry. The implementation of these projects will create jobs for residents in the rural parts of the country too”, informed Durrani.
He noted the Ministry has set a goal for the construction of some 705 kilometers of roads, and building 1691 meters of bridges in the rural areas while protecting and safeguarding 400 kilometers of roads in 34 provinces of the country.
