KABUL (SW): More than one hundred people associated with the Attorney General Office (AGO) have been assassinated during the past year and a half.
The AGO revealed on Monday that this crucial judicial organ of the state was faced with multiple challenges. Syed Ahmad Shah, Head of AGO’s Control and Monitoring Unit told journalists that many of their workers are faced with death threats.
“Despite grim situation in all 34 provinces, our staff is still doing their best to provide timely justice”, he said. Ahmed Shah noted that more than 100 people associated with the AGO have been killed in the line of duty during the past 18 months.
He mentioned the AGO has concluded 25 thousand cases this year alone. More 15, 000 inmates have either been pardoned or their stay in prison has been reduced.
Noor Habib Jala, acting Attorney General said on the occasion that the AGO would review the actions taken in line with the comprehensive 100-day plan to expedite justice delivery. It is vital to note that various ministries have already announced their 100-day plan but the AGO is yet to do it.
