LASHKARGAH (SW): Security officials have said successful military operation with the help of modern technology against the militants is underway in Helmand province.
Gen. Abdul Hadi, deputy commander of the Afghan National Army (ANA)’s 215-Maiwand Corps, told journalist on Thursday that the offensives against the militants in Naad-e-Ali district are going ahead successfully. Some six days ago, the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) launched these offensives in a bid to retake turf lost to the militants in the district. On Thursday, the officials said road link between the center of Naad-e-Ali and provincial capital Lashkargah has been established.
The deputy commander of the 215-Maiwand Corps said modern technology has been used in a bid to avoid civilian casualties. He said ‘Scangun Drones’ have been used for this purpose. Gen. Hadi claimed up to 128 militants have been killed in this operation so far. He said the security forces have sustained no casualties.
Abdul Raheem, deputy commander of the Afghan National Police (ANP)’s 505-Bost Zone, said on the occasion a large number of policemen are taking part in these offensives. Hayatullah Hayat, provincial governor, said many militants including top militant commanders have been killed in this operation.
The Taliban have not commented about these claims made by the officials.
