‘13 policemen got killed in Ghazni’s Maalistan district’

GHAZNI (SW) – The Ghazni provincial council member, Mohammad Naeem Tauhidi, claimed the Taliban have killed 13 policemen in assaults on Maalistan district.

He said the ‘red unit’ of the Taliban stormed check posts of the police in Maailistan from Uruzgan province killing 13 policemen and forcing the security forces to retreat.

He said the security forces got back to the center of Maalistan district. He said the areas on the border between Maalistan and Uruzgan have fallen to the Taliban.

The PC member claimed up to 30 soldiers reached the district center few days back, but have not been directed to conduct operation yet.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Khan Seerat, spokesman for the Ghazni police headquarters, has asserted that the security forces have not retreated. He confirmed four policemen got killed and two more got wounded in last night’s assault by the Taliban.

There have been no reports about the casualties sustained by the Taliban.
