SHEBERGHAN (SW) – A woman in Jawzjan province has claimed security officials in Sar-e-Pul province have gang-raped her minor daughter.
Hajiya, the mother of the victim, has been visiting the police headquarters in Jawzjan for justice for a while now, but to no avail. She informed Salam Watandar armed men associated with the head of security in Sar-e-Pul province first abducted her 13-year-old daughter, and later gang-raped her brutally.
The grieving mother has threated to set herself ablaze in front of the Jawzjan provincial administration, if justice is not delivered to her. The victim could not speak, and kept crying in this while.
Meanwhile, Hafeezullah Jamshedi, director public health in Jawzjan, has confirmed that the girl has been sexually assaulted.
In the meantime, Maghfirat Samimi, provincial head of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission, has expressed grim concerns over the rise in such incidents in Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul and Faryab provinces. She said life is becoming ever more difficult for women and girls here.
However, Mawlawi Lutfullah Azizi, governor of Jawzjan, has promised to nab the culprits in this case. Provincial security officials vowed efforts are underway to arrest the criminals.
