KABUL (SW) – The Independent Joint Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee shared findings of its investigations about corruption at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum here on Sunday.
According to the MEC officials, the MoMP has only managed to implement 27 out of a total of 191 recommendations for transparency in this public body. It charged that the MoMP has failed to ensure fairness in recruitment as contacts continue to undermine the merit-based recruitment process.
Maiwand Rouhani, secretary MEC, said on the occasion that weak coordination with other public entities and illegal collection of funds has created impediments in progress at the MoMP. He added until all recommendations for fairness are implemented, the ministry would continue to be marred by corruption.
Meanwhile, deputy minister at the MoMP, Waliullah Zadran, has clarified that up to 92 recommendations for fairness have been implemented.
