KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Wednesday summoned Dilbar Nazari, minister for women affairs over allegations of corruption, nepotism and sexual abuses by her son at the ministry.
A number of parliamentarians charged the minister for terminating a number of ‘good working’ officials and replacing them with the new people of her own choice. Dilbar Nazari was also blamed for promoting ethnic politics in the ministry. Some went on to charge that the minister’s son, who serves as an advisor at the ministry, has sexually assaulted a number of women. The minister however, rejected the allegations.
Rubaba Parwani, a member of the WJ said that the former minister for women affairs had Dalbari’s ‘abusive’ son banned from entering the ministry. Kubra Mustafawi, another female member of the house demanded that the minister’s son should be removed from the post since it is a matter of honor.
Responding to the allegations, Dilbar Nazari said that no such advisor exists in the ministry, and those leveling allegations should present proof. The minister however, earned the confidence of the house and managed to remain on her seat at the ministry.
