JALALABAD (SW): Dead bodies of 12 civilians abducted and killed by the pro-Daesh militants in Kot district in Nangarhar province over a year ago have been found.

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar these people were abducted by the militants following clashes with the pro-government militiamen and security forces in the Se Payay area. Meanwhile, the locals claim the militants had abducted a total of 18 people, including six women, but the women were later released.

Amir Jan, a local elder, informed that the women were released in return for the release of some Pakistani women prisoners associated with the militants. He confirmed the mass grave of the 12 men was found yesterday in the Momand Dara village of Achin district, and the bodies have now been shifted to Kot district with the support of the security forces for proper burial.

He claimed a number of tribal elders are among those killed and buried in the mass grave by the militants.

Malif Safeer, another local elder, and head of the local uprising force against the militants in the area, said in this regard that one of his brothers has also been abducted and later killed by the militants, but his dead body was not in the mass grave.

The pro-Daesh militants have not commented on this so far.
