LASHKARGAH (SW): The U.S. Forces in Afghanistan in a joint air raid dismantled four poppy processing facilities and a Taliban center in Helmand’s Desho district.
Umar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar that the air raids were conducted in the Bahramchi area of the district. He added the poppy processing facilities alongwith thousands of kilograms of narcotics have been completely destroyed. He added up to 15 Taliban fighters have also been killed, five wounded and their assets destroyed in the raid on their compound in the area.
According to the local officials, the Bahramchi area holds a strategic importance for the Taliban from where they used to smuggle narcotics to Pakistan and Iran. Salam Watandar has obtained images of the destroyed poppy processing facilities.
The locals, however, claimed three civilians have got killed in these raids.
Qari Yousuf Ahmadni, the Taliban spokesman, has claimed civilians are killed in this raid, and their colleague are safe.
Sardar Mohammad Hamdard, deputy governor, informed that the U.S. and Afghan forces in a joint operation arrested a 10-member group of the Taliban along with its leaders Rehmani and Sadam while killing ten more militants in the capital Lashkargah last night.
