KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has issued a decree instructing relevant quarters to hold consultative grand council ‘Loya Jirga’ for peace on 29 April.
In this decree, President Ghani appointed Mohammad Umer Daudzai, secretary for the High Peace Council, as head of the commission to organize this Loya Jirga. The decree has called for streamlining all efforts for this cause. The Loya Jirga has been called for the sake of sharing and institutionalizing views and analysis of representatives from all walks of life for the sake of sustainable peace in the country.
The decree has dubbed the Loya Jirga as an historic moment for the representatives of the people from across the country to gather in harmonious environment to set the parameters and contours of talks with the Taliban for peace.
Previously, it was set the ‘Loya Jirga’ would be held in mid-March for three days with up to 2000 delegates from across the country to discuss contours of proposed peace process with the Taliban.
