KABUL (SW) – A number of public university teachers said they have been asked to donate money for the 100th Independence Day celebrations.
A number of Kabul University lecturers said they have been asked to contribute AFN 100 each for the celebrations. They said teachers have been asked for contributions on multiple occasions including for Farmer’s Day celebrations and Flag Day celebrations.
A teacher at the Syed Jamaluddin Teaching Institute – who also did not wished to be named in the report, said there has been no official statement, but the lecturers have been asked to pay around AFN 100 each. He added the administration has asked them for payment, which has no official status.
The Ministry of Higher Education Commission and the Directorate for the Independence Day celebrations did not respond our queries.
This comes as AFN 384 million has been earmarked for these celebrations.
