KABUL (SW): A delegation of parliamentarians, civil society members and former army officers from Pakistan is visiting Afghanistan for Track-II diplomacy to improve bilateral ties.
The visiting delegation met Afghan parliamentarians in Kabul today. Shazia Mari, member of the parliament in Pakistan, said on the occasion terrorism and insecurity are the main challenges faced by the citizens of both the countries. She stressed both should strive to ensure peace and stability and improve trade ties.
Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house), pronounced bilateral trade ties as crucial, but charged that Pakistan has not strived sincerely for peace in Afghanistan of late. He underlined the need for honest cooperation.
The visiting delegation is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with Afghan officials.
