“Justice should not be sacrificed for peace talks”

28/05/2016

KABUL (SW): Justice Seeking Movement for War’s Victims (JSMWV) condemned government’s peace talk with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar on Monday and said that to restore peace, the justice should not be sacrificed.

Sami Darayee, a member at JSMWV, said that Hekmatyar is involved in organizing a number of suicide attacks.

He believed that the government seeks to amend its political failures by offering peace talks with Hekmatyar.

He said that to ensure peace, there should be a transparent and holistic approach and weak institutions like High Council Peace (HCP) could not present a proper process for this vital phenomenon.

Mahdi Saqeb, another member at JSMWV, said that the government should follow the international laws while making peace with Hekmatyar.

He too believed that the High Council Peace gives privileges to the opposition.

JSMWV urged upon the government and human rights institutions to not remove Hekmtyar’s name from the blacklist and added that war’s victims should be respected.
