KABUL (SW): Based on a published list on Tuesday, the Jamiat-e-Islami (JI) party’s leadership council members have been increased from 9 to 64.
Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, who is also the president of JI, told a press conference here in Kabul that the current circumstances are not suitable for holding national party convention. He said until then, this leadership council would study and plan for the upcoming parliamentary and local council elections. “We have increased the members in order to re-open the central and provincial offices of the party”, added Rabbani.
Jamiat’s leaders Ahmad Zia Massoud, governor of Balkh province Atta Mohammad Noor, and others including Ismael Khan and Younus Qanooni were among the participants of the gathering.
