KABUL (SW): Taj Mohammad Jahed, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s pick to head the powerful Ministry of Interior (MoI) was formally introduced to the MoI officials on Saturday.
The Second Vice President Sarwar Danish introduced Jahed as an interim and care taking minister to the MoI. On this occasion, Danish highlighted importance of the MoI in regard to peace and stability in the country.
He expressed hope that the newly introduced minister would bring necessary reforms and lead the organization with good coordination among various corresponding organs.
The VP noted that the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) and district council elections are to be held in the near future. He stressed that the Afghan National Police (ANP), along with the other security organs would be of utter importance during this mammoth process.
The newly introduced minister said on the occasion if he managed to earn the confidence of the Wolesi Jirga, he would devise and implement a comprehensive security plan in collaboration with the other security organs for peace and stability in the country.
The WJ is likely to resume its business later this week after the winter break.
