KABUL (SW) – Presidential candidate, Rehmatullah Nabil on Monday urged the international community not to strive towards ‘legitimizing' the rigging in the election process.
Addressing a press conference at his residence, he said this would amount to disrespect towards the rights of the Afghans. He said the people of Afghanistan have already paid the price of rigging in the 2014 presidential polls, and should not be victimized again.
He went on to say that a certain electoral team is striving hard to take the process towards a crisis. Nabil said this particular team exploited the Independence Day celebrations, name of the King Amanullah Khan and freed prisoners for this purpose.
Nabil demanded those involved in rigging should be referred to justice institutions and put on the Exit Control List. He said the ruling team wishes to legitimize the rigged votes. He added all efforts to reach power through rigged votes is against the principles of democracy in Afghanistan. He also urged the Independent Election Commission not to join hands with such people.
