PUL-I-ALAM (SW) – At least four civilians got killed in a landmine blast in Logar province, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Shahpur Ahmadzai, spokesman for the police headquarters, told Salam Watandar the incident took place in Sarkh district. He said four people including two women of a family wished to visit their relatives in connection with Eid al-Fitr when their car hit the roadside IED in the Dabar area of the district. He blamed the Taliban insurgents for placing the IED.
The Taliban have not commented on this so far.
Earlier this year, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan documented a total of 1,773 civilian casualties (581 deaths and 1,192 injured), including 582 child casualties (150 deaths and 432 injured) between January 1 and March 31 this year.
