KABUL (SW) – Hundreds of protesters gathered in Kunar on Tuesday demanding an end to war, and implementation of ceasefire in the country.
Hundreds of Kunar residents welcomed the Helmand Peace Convoy to the province. They chanted slogans against the ragging war and for peace in the country. They said people are sick and tired of war, and want peace across the country.
Iqbal Khyber, leader of the Helmand Peace Convoy, said while addressing the gathering that all Afghans must rise against the imposed war in the country, and demand peace. He urged the Taliban to sit for talks with the Afghan government in a bid to end this brutal war in the country.
Khyber said the common people are unaware about the details of ongoing peace talks, and have fears that some sort of deal behind the door might be struck that could undermine their sacrifices for sustainable peace in the country.
The Helmand Peace Convoy began its journey last year in Lashkargah after a suicide attack claimed multiple civilian lives outside a sports facility.
