HERAT CITY (SW): A one-week inter-club football tournament commenced in Herat on Wednesday in which Iranian clubs are also participating.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), Iran’s Turbat F.C and Taybad F.C would join four Afghan clubs in this tournament labelled as “Herat Green Cup Soccer Matches”. Among the local clubs, the Kabul Army F.C, Herat Currency Traders F.C, Herat Municipality F.C and Kandahar Sherzai F.C would take part in this tournament.
Managers of the local clubs have expressed profound joy over this tournament, and have expressed optimism that such exchanges would help footballers in both countries learn from each other, and promote friendly ties.
Esa Aadampur, coach of the Iranian Taybad F.C, said on the occasion he has given chance to younger players of his club in this tournament. Elyas Manochehar, coach of the Herat Municipality F.C, said his team is well prepared to give tough time to other teams in this tournament.
The six teams have been divided in two groups in this tournament. The Kabul Army F.C, Herat Currency Traders F.C, and Iran’s Turbat F.C. are in group A while the Herat Municipality F.C. Kandahar Sherzai F.C and Iran’s Turbat F.C. are in group B.
