NELI (SW) – Ali Akbar Natiqi, spokesman for the governor of Daikundi, has said 33 members of the security forces fled the fighting in Ghazni and took refuge here on Sunday.
The spokesman said among them included 16 members of the commando force, 8 soldiers, five policemen and two members of the local police.
A soldier, who wished not to be named, said they received no support during clashes in Ghazni, and the government helicopters instead dropped supplies to the Taliban. He added the Taliban have overran the Ajristan district of Daikundi, and are now hiding in civilians’ homes.
One of the soldiers, Chaman Ali, said they were a group of 60 commandoes, 35 soldiers and 30 policemen, but now the fate of the rest is unknown.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the Ministry of Defense, but to no avail.
