KABUL (SW) – The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Monday witnessed heated debate over surging Taliban attacks in Ghazni province’s Jaghori and Malistan districts.
A number of representatives of Ghazni province in the house said fighting has intensified in the Malistan and Jaghori districts of Ghazni, and that as a result of these clashes, a large number of civilians were killed and wounded, but the government paid the least attention to the security of these districts.
Shah Gul Rezaie, a member of the house, suggested the security officials be summoned to the house.
But, a number of parliamentarians said the security situation in Ghazni alone is not fragile, but there are clashes underway in Farah, Uruzgan, Jawzjan, Takhar, Kunduz and other provinces as well.
A number of MPs stressed the Ghazni representatives should not deal with this as an ethnic issues.
Arian Youn, one MP, said that a number of other districts in Ghazni have burned for years in the wake of the war, but no one paid the least attention, but the fact that the conflict flared in these two districts, certain members are raising their voices.
At the end of the session, it was decided to call security officials to respond to questions on Wednesday.
