Head of Darul Ulom arrested over ties with militants

PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Security officials in Logar province arrested the head and chief executive of the local Darul Ulom (religious studies center) on Tuesday on charges of having ties with the militants. 

The provincial directorate of education has confirmed that the National Directorate of Security (NDS) took the two men in custody for investigation. Shah Pur Arab, spokesman for the provincial directorate of education, while confirming the news, identified the arrested men as Mawlawi Samiullah Mohammadi and Mudeer Faiz Mohammad.

Meanwhile, the students at the Darul Ulom have warned to take to the streets if the men are not released soon. Habibur Rahman, a student at this facility told Salam Watandar that the director and chief executive of the Darul Ulom have no ties with the rebels. It is worth noticing that up to 700 students are enrolled in this educational facility registered with the Ministry of Education.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Logar has not commented on the development so far.
