
FAIZABAD (SW) – The Taliban insurgents killed at least 13 security forces in the Wurduj district of Badakhshan province.
A security official who wished not to be named in the report told Salam Watandar the incident took place in the Rubat area of the district when the security convoy was on its way to conduct an operation in the Wurduj. According to the source 15 other security forces got injured in this attack.
The well-placed source said a security team of some 50 personnel including members of the border force and local uprising force is missing.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the provincial governor, Naim Mohammad Nazari, said only five security forces got killed in the Taliban raid. He added heavy losses have been inflicted upon the Taliban following the recently launched operation in the Wurduj, Karan Wa Manjan and Jurum district of the province. Nazari said 30 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 20 other wounded. He stressed operation would continue until the area is cleared of the presence of the insurgents.
