GHAZNI CITY(SW):Pronouncing government’s alleged silence towards the incident equal to the crime, residents in Ghazni province on Tuesday protested against the beheading of 7 passengers in Zabul province.
Thousands of residents demonstrated in Ghazni while carrying the dead bodies of two women, one child and four men.
They chanted death to the murderers and the Taliban, asking the government to break its silence and put an end to the killing of Hazaras.
They also asked for one day general mourning on the calendar of the country under the name of” Counter terrorist’s acts and kidnapping passengers”.
They also asked for the security to be improved at highways in the districts in Ghazni as well as releasing of 11 remaining kidnaped passengers.
The residents said that those who behead civilians, especially children and women, acted against all human values and the Taliban by doing so, have committed one of the most barbaric crimes in the history of the country.
Religious Scholars Council in Ghazni too condemned the incident calling it un-Islamic.
Qurban Ali Tawasuli, one of the religious scholars in Ghazni, criticized the government for keeping silent over such incident.
“I ask the government to put an end to the crisis. I ask Pashtun, Tajik, Hazara and Uzbek to be united against the enemy.” He said.
Mohammad Aman Hamimi, Ghazni Governor, who was at the demonstration, said that he has shared people’s suggestion with the government.
It is said that the dead bodies of the victims were transferred to Kabul today and would be taken to presidential palace tomorrow for another round of protest.
8 kidnapped passengers released
According to another report, 8 kidnapped passengers who were kidnapped by the Taliban have been released in the morning and were handed over to local officials in Jaghori district in Ghazni.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) in a statement said that these passengers, which included five men, two women and one teenager were released by security forces.
NDS also denied that the Taliban have executed those who beheaded the passengers as was claimed by some media.
NDS said that the passengers were beheaded by the Taliban and the militants wanted to cover their crimes by claiming it was Daesh who committed the crime.
