GHAZNI (SW): A number of Ghazni provincial council members and hundreds of residents of Ghazni staged a protest on one of the city’s roads against the increasing insecurity in the province and said that if the government doesn’t bring major changes at the leadership of Ghazni province, the province will soon fall in the hands of the Taliban and opposition groups. The protesters informed that 10 districts of this province has been facing imminent security threats and are at risk of collapsing in the hands of the Taliban.
Hassan Raza Yousufi, a member of Ghazni provincial council told Salam Watandar that all security incidents in Ghazni province are reported incorrectly, however, the people of Ghazni are no longer able to tolerate the miserable security situation in the province and will boycott the election if the government did not pay attention to the security situation in Ghazni.
Mohammad Arif Noori, spokesperson for the governor of Ghazni rejected these statements saying that the security situation in Ghazni has improved recently. He assured that the security forces have a strong commitment to securing the province and called on the people to participate in the election process with peace of mind.
