KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the country needs a peace deal that does not repeat the bitter past experiences.
He said this at an election rally here on Saturday. He stressed the peace deal should be inked with dignity within the framework of the democratic principles.
President Ghani said Afghanistan would never return to the past. He added peoples’ rights and liberties as well as gains of the past years would be protected in the peace process.
He added some forces are striving hard to cause hurdles, but the forthcoming presidential elections would be held on time.
Elections are set to take place on Sep. 28 later this year.
