
KABUL (SW) – Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Ahmad Wali Massoud and Rehmatullah Nabil on Saturday submitted nomination papers for the forthcoming presidential polls in the country.
Hekmatyar was flanked by his proposed deputies Fazal Hadi Wazeen and Hafeez Rehman Naqi. He dubbed the current system of governance as weak and corrupt. Hekmatyar vowed to reform the Constitution through the Loya Jirga, but opposed parliamentary and federal systems.
He blamed the current system for the ragging war while charging the government for having no strategy for peace.
Another presidential candidate, Ahmad Wali Massoud, has named Fareeda Mohammand and Lateef Nazari as his deputies. He noted his main agenda is to strive for parliamentary system of governance in the country. He said fighting corruption, brining justice and ensuring equal distribution of power are the main concerns of his electoral team.
The former head of NDS, Rehmatullah Nabil, has named Gen. Murad Ali Murad and Masouda Jalal as his deputies in the run for the president.
With these three, the total number of candidates running for the president has reached 10.
Media reports indicate president, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, and chief executive officer, Abdullah Abdullah, would also file the nomination papers tomorrow on the last day for nominations.
