KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has stressed that peace in the country is just six months away.
He was addressing an exclusive gathering at the Arg (Presidential Palace) called for consultation on the peace process and security situation across the country. Members of the parliament, Chief Executive Office and other corresponding officials attended the session.
Ghani told the gathering that Pakistan has promised to bring the Taliban to the negotiation table soon.
He underlined that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) are fully capable to thwart any attacks by the militants. He emphasized that the government resolve in this regard is pivotal in reach peace via negotiations.
He asked the citizens to bear the imposed war for some more time.
The President told the moot that the Afghan government has for the first time made it clear upon the international community that Afghanistan is subject to an unannounced war by Pakistan. Addressing the parliamentarians, Ghani said that Afghanistan is no longer isolated in combating the menace of terrorism.
“From now on, spies will have no place in government”, he said while pointing out the presence of elements informing Pakistani border forces the weak points of their Afghan counterparts.
This session convened at a time when a militant attack left some 30 people dead and more than 300 wounded in Kabul on Tuesday.
