KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has vowed economic uplift and improved revenue collection would be given top priority from now on.

Ghani said this at a ceremony organized to mark inking of deal between the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MoUDH) and the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI). The President announced next year would be named as the ‘Year of Industry’, and the Afghan businessmen would be granted mining permits and contracts.

Ghani promised higher tariffs would be imposed on traders importing low-grade products. He vowed the country would be self-sufficient in electricity in the next four years, and can even export it.

The President asked traders and industrialists at this ceremony in Arg [President Palace] to share recommendations for improving and better facilitating industrial parks across the country.
