
KABUL (SW) – Acting foreign minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar on Sunday met the delegation from Pakistan led by foreign secretary Sohail Mahmood.
The meeting followed a moot in connection with the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS), a bilateral mechanism of dialogue.
The foreign minister stressed the need to end shelling on different parts of Afghanistan from across the Durand Line, halt the construction of ‘arbitrary’ facilities and keep the crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan open, a statement by the foreign ministry said.
Atmar shared his views with the Pakistani delegation on regional connectivity, trade and transport development, extension of the Hairatan-Kabul-Peshawar and Hairatan-Herat-Kandahar-Quetta railways. The Acting Foreign Minister also thanked Pakistan for hosting Afghan refugees and said that the Afghan government was working on long-term plans for their dignified and voluntary return from Pakistan.
Today’s meeting of the APAPPS reviewed the commitments of the previous meeting of the Action Plan about political – diplomatic, defense, security, economic and immigration related matters.
