KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has asked the UN to blacklist the Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah.
Talking to a UN’s delegation on Sunday here, the President stated that to eradicate black economy and cut-off the financial sources of the extremist networks, cooperation is needed on international levels.
The President also noted that illegal minings constitute the second largest source of income for the terrorist networks. He added that the Afghan government has temporarily ceased the mining contracts so that the capacity for mine management is developed.
A press release published by the Office of the President, read that as many as 30 terrorist networks are actively engaged in Afghanistan and each of them poses serious threats to the regional countries.
Ghani urged that clear standpoint needs to be adopted against the terrorists’ sponsor states. He also asked the UN diplomats to meet civil society representatives in Afghanistan.
