FARAH CITY (SW): Provincials council members and citizens in Farah province have stated that the Taliban have taken the provincial capital under their siege.
These PC members noted that the Taliban militants have taken positions in the suburbs around Farah city from where they can overrun the city if the government forces did not take measures. In the meantime, citizens in the province have expressed their deep concerns over the insecurity. They have stated that intense fighting has forced number of families to flee and take refuge in neighboring provinces.
While acknowledging that intense fighting is going on around the city, the security officials in the province have stated that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) have full command over the situation, and they have killed a number of Taliban militants.
Iqbal Bair, the spokesperson for Farah police chief, has stated that fresh forces have arrived from Herat province to join the ANSF in Farah.
In addition, the 606-Ansar Police Zone has released a press note reading that ANSF have command over the situation.
