JALALABAD (SW) – At least two people got killed and 30 people got hurt in different security incidents related to elections in Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar provinces.
Credible security sources informed Salam Watandar two people got killed and 14 people got injured in violent incidents in Kot, Kama and Sur Rod districts of Nangarhar on Saturday. The sources informed armed clashes between the armed rebels and the security forces, and landmine blasts caused the casualties.
In neighboring Kunar province, Dr. Azizur Rehman Safi, head of the directorate of public health, said a total of 10 people, including 2 women and 2 policemen, have been brought to hospital for treatment. Six people are reported hurt in Laghman in similar instances.
Two blasts have been reported from Nuristan province, but there are no details of casualties.
Voters in this part of the country told Salam Watandar technical glitches combined with late arrival of staff and electoral material have caused impediments in the electoral process here.
