KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Finance presented the draft Fiscal Budget for 2019-20 to the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) here on Wednesday.
The draft budget is worth AFN 399 billion with AFN 275 billion for expenditures and AFN 124 billion for development projects.
Abdullah Raqibi, deputy minister for revenue and customs affairs, said on the occasion priority has been given to security affairs, infrastructure, education, and good-governance, agriculture and rural development. In this order 41, 13, 9 and 8 per cent of the budget has been allocated respectively.
He added a number of mega projects, including power transmission, construction of public buildings and rural roads, renovation of the Dar-ul-Aman palace, extension of public transport in Kabul, agriculture and information technology projects are included in the draft budget.
The deputy minister said the government is also striving hard to promote the private sector. The draft budget has proposed AFN 188 billion additional revenue for the next year.
In line with the rules, the house would now deliberate on the draft budget before approving or rejecting it.
