Dozens of security forces surrender to Taliban in Faryab

MAIMANA (SW):  Dozens of security forces who were besieged by the Taliban insurgents in Kohistan district of Faryab surrendered to the Taliban late night on Sunday.

Abdul Karim Yurish, the provincial police spokesman, told Salam Watandar that at least 200 security forces including 30 commandos were in the siege of the Taliban, out of which at least 130 security forces surrendered to the Taliban on Sunday night. “Commandos and peoples uprising forces are still besieged by the Taliban in Khair Abad area of the district”, informed Yurish.

The Taliban insurgents had warned the security forces to surrender with their equipment. Qari Yousif Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Taliban, claimed that the Taliban have been trying to make the security forces to surrender since the beginning of their attack on the Kohistan district of Faryab.
