KABUL (SW): Pakistan’s Spy Chief Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, the director-general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), is likely to visit Kabul in few days’ time.
Ayaz Sadiq, speaker of the National Assembly in Pakistan, has told the local media in Pakistan that the ISI chief is likely to visit Kabul in near future. Sadiq has expressed hope that this likely visit would help improve strained ties between the two neighbors.
Nazir Khan, a Pakistani analyst on military affairs, told Salam Watandar the visit of Gen. Naveed Mukhtar can play important role in building confidence, and developing trust.
Meanwhile, Jawid Kohistani, an Afghan analyst on military affairs, has said it is much better that the officials of both the nations create environment of trust, and pave way for practical measures to counter-terrorism collectively. “Islamabad should commit itself honestly to the war against terrorism as a first step towards such environment”, expressed Kohistani.
Over the weekend, a delegation of parliamentarians from Pakistan under the leadership of Ayaz Sadiq visited Kabul, and held meetings with the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, and members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) and the Masharano Jirga (upper house).
