GARDEZ/ KUNDUZ (SW) – The deputy chairman for Paktia provincial council, 11 security forces and 42 Taliban got killed in different security incidents in Gardez and Kunduz.
Ayub Gharwal, deputy chairman for the Paktia provincial council, was assassinated by unknown attackers in Gardez city this morning. According to the local officials, Gharwal sustained bullet wounds and succumbed to wounds on the way to hospital.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Separately, clashes in Ali Aabad and Khan Aabad districts of Kunduz left 11 security forces and 42 Taliban insurgents killed. A well-placed security source told Salam Watandar the clashes when the insurgents staged multiple coordinated attacks here.
Abdul Hadi Nazar, spokesman for the Afghan National Army (ANA)’s 217 – Pamir Corps, said in this regard that the Taliban attacks were repulsed.
