KABUL (SW): Ali Ahmad Osmani, the deposed minister for water and power, on Sunday inked a multi-million dollar project a day after President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani terminated him.
The project is aimed at generating up to 5.5 megawatts of solar energy in Daikundi province. The project partners is a Chinese firm while the funds worth $ 13 million for this project would be provided by the ministry, Osmani informed.
He added this project would see installation of solar panels in Nili, Shahristan and Ashtarli districts of Daikundi province. Besides the solar power, two more supporting power generation facilities would also be established, he added. These supporting projects include installation of a generator with capacity to generate 4.3 megawatts and a battery with capacity of storing 3.4 megawatts of electricity.
The project is set to be surveyed and executed in two years’ time.
