GARDEZ (SW) – A number of Paktia residents on Monday took to the streets urging the Taliban to shun violence and join the peace process.
The participants of this drive said the raging violence in the country in the name of religion has devastated the civilian population. The Paktia residents urged both the government and the Taliban to ceasefire and engage in direct talks for peace in the country.
This comes as the Taliban have repeatedly declined to engage in direct talks for peace with the government.
