KABUL/ JALALABAD (SW): A number of civil society activists asked the government on Sunday to sack and put on trial local officials in eastern Nangarhar province as pro-Daesh rebels kill a number of civilians in the province’s Kot district.
The pro-Daesh rebels have shot dead 4 children, three women and a man in Kot district in Nangar on Saturday.
Sediq Mansoor Ansari, Head of Afghanistan’s Civil Society Federation (ACSF), accused officials in Nanagarhar of negligence and urged upon the Kabul government to put them on trial. He said that the governor, the district chief in Kot and the commander of Afghan National Army (ANA)’s Silaab 201-Corps have not been able to ensure the security.
He added that the rebels have forced residents in Kot district to leave their homes.
Meanwhile, Salim Kunduzi, Governor of Nangarhar, has said that the pro-Daesh rebels have sustained heavy casualties in Nangarhar as 131 of their fighters have been killed during the security forces’ operation. He said that during the fighting, 12 security personnel were killed and 18 more were injured.
